Kathmandu : Sashaying like a model is a dream for many. With a passion to set the ramp on fire and confidence to boot, 18 girls walked for the judges at Embassy Restaurant, Panipokhari on February 26 at the second audition of Signature presents The Himalayan Times TGIF Nepal Fashion Week 2014 powered by Colors Mobile.
They were shortlisted from 95 models who walked at the first audition. The expression and attitude in their walk was something to praise. It was not just one walk, they had to walk for three sequences — casual, formal and traditional.
Attired in casuals — jeans, tee-shirts, shorts, halter dresses and leggings and matching high heels, they brought some oomph to the ramp. And the tempo was just beginning — there was more to come. When they came on the runway in formal attire, they carried themselves with confidence. Presenting themselves in blazers, skirts and gowns, they gave the runway the perfect feel of being at
a real fashion show, not just an audition.
Donning saris and salwar-kurtas they gave a perfect fusion of modern fashion with Nepali tradition. Ranging from the traditional Newari dress haaku patasi to the salwar-kamez with matching jewelleries and make-up, they managed to maintain their confidence. However, their shivering fingers and body gave away their nervousness in this traditional round. And their nervousness perhaps was justified as they were auditioning for the uber fashion week of the nation.
Despite their exams, models Ayushma Shrestha and Nabina Lamichhane made it to the audition.
Hopeful about being selected, Pratiksha Tripathi expressed, “It is an opportunity to learn something. It is a place where I can build my confidence.”
Lamichhane, who was late for the audition, shared, “I am trying to give my best despite my exams and being selected for the second audition I felt my dream come true.”
Informing about the selection process, choreographer Prasant Tamrakar, one of the judges at the audition, said, “Height, body language and confidence — that is what we are seeking for in the models.” HNS :
