Nepathya gearing up for nationwide tour

18th, Nov 2013

Kathmandu : Popular folk rock band Nepathya is ready yet again for a nationwide tour for peace advocating education through music. As the society still faces violence in politics while children continue to become its victims, the band continues to be the voice of the voiceless children.

The upcoming tour will be their seventh nationwide tour since 2002. A press release issued by nepa~laya on November 17, ‘Shantiko Lagi Sikchya’ (Education for Peace Tour — 2013) will embark from Ratnanagar (Chitwan) on December 6 and end at Patan Durbar Square, Kathmandu on December 29. Taking Birat Chowk (Morang) in their notes on November 8, one of the oldest band will entertain and educate Damak (Jhapa) on November 10.

On alternate days, Nepathya will then croon their songs to Lalbandi (Sarlahi), Taulihawa (Kapilbastu), Gularia (Bardia), Lamahi (Dang), Abu Khaireni (Tanahu), Beni (Myagdi) and Gagan Gaunda (Kaski). “We have been longing for peace and the right to education for all children. It seems the voice needs to be kept alive,” the release quotes Amrit Gurung, the frontman of Nepathya as saying. “Our concert tours have seen our nation pass through war, political movements, transition and two CA elections.”

Nepathya had toured the nation on several occasions for peace and the people for a ray of hope, which they have been doing for almost a decade now. And the band is “excited to travel to 10 new places and concluding it in the Valley”. After performing in Kathmandu Durbar Square and Bhaktapur Durbar Square in the past, finishing it off at Patan Durbar Square on December 29 will be an opportunity for Nepathya which they are “looking forward to”. HNS :
